Used to using his passport, John and family moved to South Africa and settled in Stanford, near Hermanus, in the beautiful mountains and seaside of the Overberg, Western Cape where he continues to produce engaging and beautiful images of the people and things around him.

Inspired by WH Auden’s insightful quote, John’s failed career as a rock drummer thankfully quietly left him to the world of visual delight:

“The ear tends to be lazy, craves the familiar and is shocked by the unexpected; the eye, on the other hand, tends to be impatient, craves the novel and is bored by repetition.”
