About

John lives in Guernsey where he works with creatives and companies producing engaging and beautiful images. He took his first photograph aged 8 using his father’s Voigtlander 35mm which took him into the darkroom where he spent much of his youth learning the dark arts of black and white silver-based photography.

His professional career, after selling pictures to the local press as a schoolboy, grew from highly technical studio based commercial photography to nowadays pretty much every discipline creating custom images, whether studio or location portraiture, buildings, F&B, business collateral or the curious technical world of jewellery photography.

Inspired by WH Auden’s insightful quote, John’s failed career as a rock drummer thankfully quietly left him to the world of visual delight:

“The ear tends to be lazy, craves the familiar and is shocked by the unexpected; the eye, on the other hand, tends to be impatient, craves the novel and is bored by repetition.”
